Gamepad Tester
Free · runs in your browserSee every button, trigger and stick respond live.
Connect. Press a button. See it respond.
Plug in a controller or pair it in your device’s Bluetooth settings. Start the test, then press any controller button while this page is active.
A phone touch screen is not a controller. USB and Bluetooth support depends on your device and browser.
Buttons & triggers
Amber = pressed · ✓ = tested. Values show pressure from 0 to 1.
Stick & axis readings
Raw values, no dead zone applied. A small offset alone does not prove drift.
Input stays on this page. No key text or controller readings are saved or uploaded by this tool.
How to use the gamepad tester
- Connect a controller, choose Start test, and press a controller button to make it visible to the browser.
- Select a device if you have several connected. Press each button, squeeze both triggers and move the sticks through their range.
- Check the live pressure and axis values. Use Reset tested buttons to start the check marks again; live readings keep updating.
- Choose Stop test when finished. Leaving this tab pauses the readings and clears the active display.
What this test can tell you
The gamepad tester shows the inputs a browser actually reports. It cannot pair Bluetooth devices, repair a controller or determine compatibility with a particular game. Non-standard controllers show numbered inputs instead of guessed labels. Some buttons are reserved by the operating system.
Use the gamepad tester on a secure connection in a recent browser. If no controller appears, press a controller button with the page focused, check the connection, and try another supported browser. Neither a still axis nor a missing device is, by itself, proof of broken hardware.
Questions about the gamepad tester
Why does the gamepad tester show no controller?
Connect a controller using USB or your device's Bluetooth settings, keep this page active, then press a controller button. Browsers may wait for that action before exposing a device. Unsupported controllers and browsers may never appear.
What does standard mapping mean?
The browser has arranged buttons and axes in a common layout. We show those labels only when the mapping is standard. Other devices retain their actual numbered inputs, because the same button number can mean something different.
Does a nonzero stick value prove drift?
No. The tool displays the raw values reported by your browser, without applying a dead zone. Small offsets can occur normally. Compare behavior with the controller resting and in the games you use; this is not a hardware diagnosis.
Is it free and can I test on a phone?
Yes, it is free. A phone can work with a compatible connected controller and browser. A touch screen alone is not a gamepad. No controller readings or device names are uploaded or saved by this tool.
