What is the connections game?

The connections game deals you a 4×4 grid of sixteen words that secretly belong to four groups of four — find them. Sounds easy until you notice that several words fit more than one category on purpose: that's the trap, and dodging it is the whole art. Our version is stocked with 60+ original puzzles written in-house (not copied from any newspaper), ordered from a gentle yellow group to a devious purple one in every puzzle. And it's unlimited: no waiting until tomorrow for the next grid — finish one, press play, get another. Free, no download, no account.

How to play

  1. Tap four words you think belong together, then hit Submit group.
  2. Right: the group collapses into its colored bar. Wrong: you lose one of four mistakes — "One away…" means three of your four were right.
  3. Colors hint at difficulty: 🟨 easiest, 🟩, 🟦, 🟪 trickiest.
  4. Find all four groups before your mistakes run out, then grab the next puzzle.

FAQ

Is this the NYT connections game?

No — it's our own unlimited connections game with 60+ original puzzles written in-house, plus the same satisfying 4-groups-of-4 format. We're not affiliated with The New York Times; think of this as extra training grounds for when the daily one leaves you wanting more.

What does 'one away' mean?

Three of the four words you submitted belong to the same group — one is an impostor. Don't shotgun variations blindly: work out which word could fit a different category, because you only get four mistakes.

Is the connections game free with unlimited puzzles?

Yes — free, no download, no daily limit. Finish a puzzle and press ▶ for the next; the game cycles through the full original puzzle set before repeating, and your wins and streak save on your device.
